Last Saturday, representatives of our Community completed the planned visits to the 5 beneficiaries of the Lenten collection as part of the charitable initiative "Drops in the Ocean":
- János lives in Senta together with his wife and their three children (the last baby born just three weeks ago). He had a bad accident 9 years ago working in the countryside and he had to wait 7 years for a surgery, which gave him the chance to walk again, even though he is still suffering a serious locomotor disability that significantly reduces his ability to work.
- Marta lives in Ada (in the North Banat District) together with his son Kristian. She is a nurse but since Kristian born with a serious handicap she had to quit her job because her son needs constant help for every daily activity. We took a walk with Marta and Kristian in the nice park nearby, Marta offered us some fokačice she baked just before our arrival and then we stopped in a cafe where Kristian en enjoyed a delicious cup of chocolate with cream. Surely it's not a lot, but we tried to offer them a half-day of "lightheartedness".
Together with the foodstuffs and the other necessities collected during Lent, we brought to both families the closeness of our whole Community and ensured our constant prayers for them.
We also thank József, a deacon from Ada, his wife Danica and their children, who provided their "local support" to our initiative.
