"Drops in the Ocean 2022": final report on the outcomes of our communitarian Lenten initiative

As well as last year, the collection for "Drops in the Ocean" ended on Easter Sunday morning. Consequently, I briefly summarise below its concrete results.


We collected in total:

  • 18 Kg and 850 g of pasta

  • 600 g of "pastina"

  • 12 Kg and 950 g of rice

  • 17 Kg of wheat flour

  • 16 Kg of sugar

  • 5 Kg of salt

  • 55 Lt of milk

  • 5.5 Lt of juices

  • 17 Lt of vegetable oil

  • 7.1 Kg of tomato sauce

  • 7 cans of corn

  • 12 cans of beans

  • 1 can of lentils

  • 4 cans of chickpeas

  • 6 cans of peas

  • 1.1 Kg of dried beans

  • 500 g of dried lentils

  • 200 g of dried chickpeas

  • 500 g of dry wheat

  • 3.5 Kg of polenta

  • 10 bags of dried mashed potatoes

  • 500 g of couscous

  • 19 packs of biscuits

  • 41 soup-bags

  • 1 pack of soup-croutons

  • 2 packs of breadcrumbs

  • 14 cans of tuna

  • 5 cans of dried fish

  • 4 cans of meat

  • 6 packs of toast-bread

  • 3 Kg of rusks

  • 100 g of cocoa powder

  • 4 jars of fruit jam

  • 5 jars of honey (700 g per each)

  • 5 jars of ajvar (530 g per each)

  • 5 jars of pickled vegetables (680 g per each)

  • 1 jar of olives

  • 1 can of pineapple in syrup

  • 3.4 Kg of coffee

  • 8 packs of teabags

  • 2 packs of napkins

  • 9.75 Lt of dish soap

  • 2.6 Lt of shampoo

  • 2.6 Lt of bath/shower soap

  • 2 packs of baby wipes

  • 11 pack of toilette paper (x10)

  • 2 pack of tissues (x10)

  • 2 packs of kitchen rolls (x2)

  • 4 toothbrushes

  • 13 toothpaste

  • 5.5 Lt of liquid hand-soap

  • 36 soap-bars

  • 5.2 Lt of liquid laundry soap

  • 3 Kg of laundry detergent in powder

  • 50 sponges

  • 6 Lt of floor soap

  • 6 Lt of toilet-detergent

  • 10 rolls of waste-bags

  • 20 kitchen cloths

+ some soft toys for children and EUR 140,00 cash to buy medicines and/or to pay medical visits or treatments.


Once again, we can say without any doubt that also this year the initiative has been a great success, thanks to the spontaneous generosity of the members of our Community.


All the collected stuff has been stored in the parish Caritas office, waiting for some volunteers within our Community who would like to participate in the distribution to the five beneficiaries in the coming days.
