Brief visit to Lepa, first beneficiary of our Community's charitable initiative "Drops in the Ocean"

Last Sunday afternoon, some representatives of our Community visited Lepa, the first beneficiary of our charitable initiative "Drops in the Ocean", bringing her some foodstuffs, other basic necessities and, as it was intended, a wheelchair as well as a nice and comfortable chair (and another useful tool) for the shower.

Lepa lives in Alibunar, a small town 60 km far from Belgrade, with two adult sons who take care of her (the youngest is a seasonal worker looking for a more stable job, while the other is completely dedicated to taking care of his mom). Seven years ago Lepa lost her husband and shortly after she was diagnosed with diabetes. The disease went on and 3 years ago she had one leg amputated. Unfortunately, her health situation has not improved and, on June 2020, the other leg has been amputated too.

Despite her humble conditions, as is common to find among the proud people of this country, Lepa shows great dignity and, knowing of our visit, she wanted to put on prostheses (as you can see from the photos), which unfortunately she usually does not tolerate so much, but she was keen to receive us "in the best possible way".

I blessed the new wheelchair (see photo) and, of course, blessed as well Lepa with her two sons, assuring them the prayers of our whole Community, represented there just by the few of us. In response, Lepa assured her prayers for all of us and sent a big kiss (see photo).
