On February 3rd, the Church celebrates St. Blaise, bishop and martyr. He is venerated as a saint in the Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, and Oriental Orthodox churches and is the patron saint of wool combers and throat disease.
On the following Sunday, Fr. Aleksandar gave the special blessing of the throats to each one at the end of our International Mass, saying the following prayer:
By the intercession of St. Blaise, bishop and martyr, may God deliver you from every malady of the throat, and from every possible mishap; in the name of the Father, and of the Son, + and of the Holy Spirit. - Amen.
